disease

Owen started running a fever of 102 in the middle of the night on Friday. Yuck. We were already up with Penelope, who had decided to have one of her long stints of wakefulness starting at midnight. We gave him some Motrin and put him back to bed. (Actually he went back to sleep in OUR bed, after which Tyson moved him back into his own bed.) The next day the fever rose to over 104. We continued to give him medicine, but the fever would come back before the Motrin wore off and we'd have to wait about 2 hours until we could give him more. When the medicine was working, Owen was his normal self. At one point he took me into the bedroom and asked me to turn on the radio so we could dance! But when the medicine wore off, he became lethargic and miserable. We've started overlapping Tylenol with the Motrin, and it seems to do a better job of keeping the fever under control. But the fever keeps coming back. I hope this ordeal ends soon. To make matters worse, I had the world's worst migraine all day Saturday. I could hardly function most of the day and had to take a nap, leaving Tyson alone with a newborn and an ill two year old. Ty and I have been doing our best to keep the kids apart. We don't want Penny getting whatever this is. But neither of us have gotten much sleep all weekend. Cross your fingers for a quick recovery and no one else catching it!
